Some hints:

You can join the testnet by using the -testnet switch, or adding "testnet=1" to your coinyecoin.conf file
In testnet mode, the Difficulty to find a block, drops to zero 3 minutes (2 times the targetted block time) after the previous block was found.
Testnet uses a seperate chain, debug file etc, all stored in the .coinyecoin/testnet3 folder.
